2003 Awards Weekend Opening Remarks
Chris Boswell opened the ceremonies by saying that he was pleased to be part of this celebration of manufacturing in Wyoming.
“As Wyoming looks to diversify its economy, manufacturing can and should play an integral role," said Boswell. "Whether it's a small manufacturing plant of a large plant, the goods produced are valuable and the jobs created are important, but even more important is the commitment to Wyoming’s communities these businesses bring. Governor Freudenthal is committed to working with the manufacturing industry to create an environment which allows every opportunity for the industry to prosper.”
“We are honored to have Chris Boswell join us this year in recognizing the importance of manufacturers to out state,” said Manufacturing-Works™ (formerly MAMTC) Director Larry Stewart. “Manufacturing-Works™, the Wyoming Business Council and the University of Wyoming are all committed to helping Wyoming manufacturers improve their businesses. Strengthening the manufacturing sector in Wyoming is good for our economy and our communities. Manufacturing-Works™ is fortunate to have such strong partners to work with as it assists the industry.”
“Wyoming Business Council CEO Tucker Fagan observed that “Manufacturing is a relatively small portion of Wyoming’s economy, but one we want to grow because it provides higher wages, diversity to our economy and tends to rely on technology for efficiency in operations. Additionally, assistance to existing business is part of the Wyoming Business Council charter; our alliance contract with Manufacturing-Works™ and the University of Wyoming is critical to fulfilling this requirement.”
“Manufacturing-Works' work not only helps individual manufacturers, it makes the entire industry healthier and more competitive and is a primary reason we are seeing and increase in size of Wyoming’s manufacturing base,” said University of Wyoming Vice President for Research Dr. William A. Gern. “Manufacturing-Works™ Field Engineers continue to work with manufacturers throughout the state to help them improve their manufacturing processes and business performance. We are pleased that they could work with Start Tech Corp., Hi Mountain Jerky and Eagle Bronze Foundry, Inc.”
