2004 Awards Weekend Opening Remarks

The celebration took place at Fort Casper in Casper Governor Freudenthal began the celebration. During the ceremony, eight exceptional manufacturers and two supporting organizations were recognized with awards.

Governor Freudenthal said he was pleased to be part of this celebration of manufacturing in Wyoming.

“It’s safe to say that manufacturing will play an incredibly important role in Wyoming’s future as we keep an eye toward diversifying our economy,” said Governor Freudenthal. “Strengthening our manufacturing sector creates valuable goods and important jobs, as well as brings businesses with senses of commitment to their communities and state. The state of Wyoming can work with the manufacturing industry to create an environment that allows opportunities for the industry to prosper.”

“We are honored to have Governor Freudenthal join us this year in recognizing the importance of manufacturers to our state,” said MAMTC Director Larry Stewart. “This is the sixth year for this event and it’s very exciting to see our partners and the manufacturers come together to support this growing industry,” continued Stewart. “As MAMTC works to help businesses throughout Wyoming improve business performance and profitability, it is fortunate to have such strong partners.”

Wyoming Business Council CEO Tucker Fagan observed that “Manufacturing is a relatively small portion of Wyoming’s economy, but one we want to grow it because it provides higher wages, diversity to our economy and tends to rely on technology for efficiency in operations. Additionally, assistance to existing business is part of the Wyoming Business Council charter; our alliance contract with MAMTC and the University of Wyoming is critical to fulfilling this requirement.”

“MAMTC continues to provide excellent support to Wyoming manufacturers,” said University of Wyoming Vice President for Research William A. Gern. “MAMTC has received several exceptional performance awards from NIST-MEP (National Institute of Standards and Technologies-Manufacturing Extension Partnership), the organization's national affiliate, for its work with Wyoming manufacturers,” continued Gern. “This is a testament to MAMTC’s dedication and hard work. The men and women who work for MAMTC are dedicated to supporting the state's manufacturers to help this important sector for the economy grow.”
